living abroad

Every person has his/her plans for future, of course not only for future but also for whole life. He takes especial procedure to continue the life and reach his targets. This procedure directly depends on his targets. This important decision which way is the best to be chosen is usually made in teenager ages. This stereotype story had happened for me too, and I decided to go abroad. Now I want to explain more what will occur if I go abroad?
I will have this chance to study my favorite major; however, as you know in Iran students must pass the entry exam and choose their major by their marks not their interests. Also I will find an occupation which is related to my major in abroad easier than in Iran because in our country preference will be given to applicant who has connection. The other point is that I will have freedom of speech, civil rights and…which aren’t paid attention in our society. In addition I will have one of the most important rights of every person's life, which is called privacy. Unfortunately our people are very keen on putting their nose on the others business.
Actually I'm interested in going to USA if it is possible, because my aunt and her family are living there and I can share my free time with them and don’t feel alone. So being far from my family will be one of the difficulties which I must suffer. The other might be culture shock!! I mean I'm living in Iran about 20 years, so it is obvious to have some issues with their culture, but I think all difficulties will gradually be solved and I will use to live there.
This year, I ‘m going to Canada. I’m immigrating in order to study and I’m going to register in university two months after my arrival.
I’m not sure yet maybe I’ll go to Turkey and then I’ll move to Canada.
I think it will be very difficult at first although one of my friends is arranging my official works and I won’t have difficulty about it but I concern about accustoming to the new situation. I hope sooner or later I’ll get used to it.
I think it will be better to go to my flat which my friend rents for me when I get there and see it. In this case if I don’t like it I will have this opportunity to change it before too long.

How to Read Actively?

Active means doing something. Active readers are always doing something.

They predict, make inferences, and draw conclusions. They compare and contrastThey evaluate and make decisions
Active readers are always doing something!

Active Readers are Good Readers.
So if you want to be a good reader you have to get busy!

 Reading is a skill!
The more you do it the better you will be at it.
What other skills do you have? Do you play an instrument?  Playing  the piano is a skill.

What about sports? Throwing a fast ball is a skill.
Do you dance? What skills do you have when you dance?
These things all take practice. You may have heard of the saying "Practice makes perfect.".  I tell my students that this is sort of true, but I like to think that perfect practice makes perfect.

 Reading is a tool!
Just like you need tools to build  a house, you need reading tools to read a book, read the newspaper, read a letter or email from a friend.
Knowing how to use reading tools will help you understand the world around you.

 Reading is a process!
There are steps you need to do to be a good reader.   There are many steps in this process but the main three steps are Before, During and After Reading.
Going through each of these steps will help you become a good reader.

Also I have sense of responsibility; I mean if I am in charge of a career, I will do my best. Application for job

Dear Sir/Madam

This writing is from an eager person, to apply for the job you advertised in Nile Magazine on 26 Jan 2011. As mentioned, I enclose my C.V. and a recent photo of myself.

I think this job has been made for me! When I was child, I used to play the role of a flight attendant in my house. I used to simulate my room to an airplane, sit my dolls on the chairs of my imaginary airplane and become the flight attendant of that airplane! I will express my endless enthusiasm in being a flight attendant that is in my heart since childhood.

I graduated in linguistics (B.S) from Tehran University and now I can communicate in 6 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic and Persian. I have worked in my university as a teacher assistant for 2 years, but because it seemed there was no prospect of promotion, I left working there. After an interview in England council, I became teacher of people who came from abroad specially England and eager in learning Persian language. I am working in that post yet but I think now it is the time for my imaginaries to become real!

Always I am trying to be efficient and until now I was successful in that according to my bosses’ expressions. Being polite is one of my clues to be efficient and my physical status helped me in this way a lot. I think my appearance is the right one you are looking for as you can see my photo attached. Relocating is one of my best hobbies as I like traveling and living abroad a lot.

I am thankful if you accept me. I promise you I will be the most efficient for you. I am waiting for your call in 24-hours!

Thanks in advance

Mohammad Amin Nabian

Time for Discussion

Upon the discussions we had in the class and unfortunately we ran out of time for all the individuals to express their beliefs and ideas extensively, the argument will be carried on.
The topics are as follows:

1. Money can guarantee happiness.

2. Getting promoted in a job doesn't require expertise or experience as much as "the walk", which is the manner or the image of a typical person who can fit the stereotype of the position.

This post is labelled as "ARGUMENT", so that your comments (on either one or both) are most welcome and appreciated.

Nowrooz

It is a ceremony that starts from the first day of spring and takes long 13 days. actually many people prepare themselves since 15 days before it. they start cleaning their houses and change the decoration of it or buy something new. it is such a big change that we call it “spring cleaning”. It is very exciting before Nowrooz happens. Shopping center become very crowded and most of people are happy and are really in oscillation. Finally at the certain time that shows earth has orbited the sun once all family members get together beside the”7sin” which they had arranged it before and pray for having a good year in the future. After the arrival of new year they say congratulation and give present to each other. The next day they begin to go to their relatives houses, from oldest to the youngest. it seems funny. you see!? You may see all of your family every day. like a game, you go and then they come!!! Of course in the past people used to act like this, in these days most of them prefer to travel or they can find a free time to relax and enjoy individually. In these small parties the host tries to be hospitable and offers cookies ,nuts and fruits.
These two nice weeks taking long with lot of present for children and also their parents. Maybe you think that it is a good chance for students to study or for others to do the remaining work they haven’t done yet but I swear that no one does this. Although teachers at school make an effort to force student to study but it won’t have any result. I think it is time to just have fun.(at least for me who used to be lazy!)
Any way the last day ends in a picnic in 13th day. Families go out and have a day in the nature. They believe that if they stay at home they will make a miserable number of 13 and get into trouble. you may think that it is a superstition ,but it isn’t . I have tried it…

Job Experience

I am a college student and I haven’t had a job yet. If I had a chance to create my job and set condition for it I would prefer to have my own business and be the manager of it. I like working with team but I can’t often carry out the order of someone else or obey all rules and tasks that are given to me without any argument, if it was against my opinion although I really respect to the group ideas and try to do actions that most of people believe can achieve a goal sooner.
A bout some conditions like hours of working I believe it is very important that your employees don’t feel tired at office and always be fresh to do their best .so I put it flexible. I give them this option to wear whatever they like and try to make a friendly situation. I think if someone doesn’t have any issue or problem about his/her conditions at work, he/she can really work better and has a great efficiency so it has benefit for companies to reach agreement and provide convenient and comfortable situation for them. I like those kinds of works in which I can promote and improve my knowledge and use my creativity. It really bothers me to do repeated works every day. It is not bothering only for me, but also for the others. Everyone agree that such unproductive work decreases the mental abilities.
I hope I could find such a dreamy job…

Imaginary Detective

I am a college student and I have not worked yet; but I want to talk about an imaginary career which refers to my childhood. When I was a child my relatives especially my parents believed that being detective will be the best occupation for me in the future. They had this opinion according to my personality. Stop!!!!Please don’t misunderstand. I wasn’t a nosy person; I just was curious and keen on discovering mysteries. By these points I want to write a notice as a detective.
This writing is a notice for youth who are interested in my occupation. I mean my aim is giving useful clues to them for deciding correctly.
At first you should expect that something unusual may happen in your personal lives which there are not in others lives. For instance you may receive some threats from felons who you concentrate on and want to arrest. They will threat you and your family to be killed if you don’t leave the case. So you must have some physical abilities to defend yourself. Or maybe they take another way and offer you bribe!! In addition you don’t have flexible working hours .I mean you should be on your job whenever crimes occur; whether it’s the time all people sleep or not!
Although there are some difficulties in this job; however you cannot ignore the pleasure of discovering crimes and giving people rights to their own.
If you are a detective you can be an effective person to decrease volume of crimes and grow the justice in your society which is a great satisfaction.

my work conditions

I ‘m a physiotherapist. I am working in a hospital. i have nine to five job. I deal with patients. my responsible is to treat and look after them. my job is a strict dress code as like as other medical professions. if you want to be a good physiotherapist you need to have experience and knowledge. My job is interesting, because every day you meet new people and also new diseases, so I have to be update and search for them to be successful in my treatment. but it has some difficulties, I supposed to do shift work even in holidays and also when you make an appointment with patients you must be on time if not they can’t trust you to cure them, and when one of my colleagues is off I have got loads of work to do. by the way of these difficulties my prospects looked good and I enjoy my job a lot.

Nowruz Celebration

Nowruz Festival

Nowruz is the unique and historical celebration of the beginning of the new year along with the coming of spring in the Iranian calendar. This festival is observed by different countries in Iranian cultural world from east of Asia to east of Europe. It has been recognized as an international day by the united nations as well.
The harmony between nature and culture is the significant aspect of this festival which is full of mythological and traditional signs and symbols. All the rituals and celebrations of Nowruz have their own symbolic meanings in representing the renewal of the life cycle. Some of the well-known celebrations of this festival are:

Chaharshanbe Suri
The night before the last Wednesday of the year is celebrated as Chahârshanbe Sûrî or Wednesday feast. It is a festival of fire and traditional song.

Haft Sīn
Haft Sīn or the seven 'S's is a new year table setting by seven items starting with the letter 'S' which symbolizes happiness and well-being. On the first day of Nowruz, all family members gather around the Haft Sīn table and await the arrival of the spring. Then they start the twelve-day celebrations by visiting the relatives and friends, exchanging presents and expressing best whishes for each other in the new year.

Sizdah Bedar
The thirteenth day of the new year festival is Sizdah Bedar or "passing the thirteenth day". Families usually leave their homes and picnic outdoors on this last day of Nowruz.

Occupation

When I get P.h.D degree in my field, I can take a job at university as a professor. I could be in part-time employment when I am studying in P.h.D or M.s grade as well but it is not well-paid.
If I want to teach in a good university, I must have a good résumé in investigations and get good marks in my courses. In this case, my work conditions will be good. I can be promoted, then I will probably get a lot of job satisfaction. For being successful, I should have community spirit and have a good relationship with students and colleagues, I can choose my working hours and it will be so good for me because same time and repeating same work again and again will depress me but in this job I can choose my program by myself. I know that there is formal atmosphere in every university and however there is not any strict dress code but I could not wear everything and of course I like none of them.

" My Working Condition as a Teacher "

I have been working in one of the Tehran Azad universities as a teacher. I love my job because there are several positive and flexible conditions for me.
for instance, I am allowed to wear any clothes that I prefer.I don't have to work alone therefore, I have been working with young and fresh people who can make me energetic.
My coworkers and I must know about most of the issues that are in our major. Students may ask several questions about their science lessons of us therefor we are learning always, and that sounds interesting.
We must never teach destructive concepts to students. I can select my resource of teaching and the procedures of producing learning in learners. For example, role playing, conference, or other teaching methods.
You don't have to come to my classes if you don't like, I mean you can choose your teacher as you like. Therefor I can work with people who love me, and it looks fantastic.
Finally, the most important thing is that I can change my working hours and schedule for each semester, in that case my job has some internal motivating factors which help me to do the best.

Yalda night

Hi there, it’s my first essay in this blog. I hope that you enjoy reading it. You know that there are various traditions, celebrations and festivals in Iran, but since during last night and this morning, the weather was snowing it reminds me “Yalda night”.So now, I want to write about this old tradition in the Iranian culture. It’s an annual tradition on the first day of the winter season. The origin of this tradition goes back to many years ago in ancient Iran. When it was so boring for Iranian people to spend long and dark nights of the winter alone, so they went to each other’s homes and tried to have good time with each other and among these nights, the first night of winter that is the winter solstice, was so popular. Why? I don’t know exactly, perhaps in this way, they told each other to get ready for night parties in the winter. During those days, people had a good store of food for the winter and among such as dried fruits and nuts which were eaten during those nights especially in the first day but there were some fresh fruits like pomegranate, too. They could just eat seasonal fruits and vegetables. This tradition has passed from generation to generation until we receive it and many customs, like reading Hafez poems, playing “Setar” and eating nuts, fruits and some special food, still remain. Perhaps you think there is no reason is no reason for keeping this tradition because there is a wide variety of entertainment to choose from, but some traditions linger on long after they’ve lost their meanings and reasons.

"NIME SHABAN"

I want to talk about one of the popular and common festivals in Iran which everybody who lives in Iran certainly knows it. It is called "Nime Shaban" which refers to the Muslims' religion and also tradition. They believe that a holy person who is called "Mahdi" was born in this day. So Muslims celebrate this day to express their respect and happiness. They illuminate the streets and distribute sweets and juice to people who cross the streets. Also you can see fireworks at the top of the tallest tower in Iran "Milad Tower" as well as in big parks. Young people who want to marry, choose this day to hold their wedding ceremony. So by these details you can imagine this nice day which all people have fun in it even those who are not Muslims and just live in Iran welcome it.
Finally it is important to say that people should maintain their useful traditions and keep them for the other generations.

" Sizda be Dar "

First of April means 12 + 1 st of Farvardin the latest day of Norooz ceremony in the Iranian culture is called " Sizda be Dar " , on the other hand, in Iranian official calendar it is labelled Nature Day and it’s a holiday
.
The history of this occasion is related to Ghajar epoch and it is a part of Zoroastrian ceremony.
In this especial day, all of the Iranian people, wherever they are, whether kids or adult, actually all of the family members go to the paradise and stay there until evening.
They tell some jokes, play some group games like “ Vasati “ or “ Zooooooooo “, & cook food on a barbecue,…… . Specially, single daughters knot some grass together to show their expectancy for wedding chance!
IThe 12 + 1st day is an infelicitous day, too!
Please be careful about yourself if you are an Iranian.

13 bedaar!

We have lots of ceremonies and festivals that were celebrated before. But nowadays just some of them remain. One of the most interesting ones is 13Bedar.how What a strange name. ,isn’t it?
Our new year is in first the beginning of spring. Nowrouz holiday is 12 days as representing of 12 months of a year.13th day of Farvardin is called 13Bedar.in In the past the 13th day of each month was called Tir ,It is the name of a holly holy angel, and they celebrate every month.
Most of us think that this day is infelicitous but it isn’t true. in In the history it is mentioned as one of the jubilant days in a year.
In this day people go out to parks or jungles and after 12 days of celebration they officially end Nowrouz. people do some interesting things. younger ones play different games and the elders prepareing food such as Kabab or Tahchin , these are some types of traditional Iranian food. Another custom is to eavesdrop other’s conversations, if they talk about good events your new year will be good, but if not unfortunately it won’t be a good year for you.
The other cute custom is knitting grass! “Do you have any idea about it?” it's popular  for young girls and boys who wants to get married. They purposing wish and knit the grass and hope to get married in the new year. It is an old custom. I read in myths that the first couple in the world did it when they got married.
All of ceremonies and festivals has reason behind it. It’s good to be aware when we celebrate them.

How the Very Essence of Life Became a Hassle!

Note: "Read carefully, and write your viewpoint about this argument"*

Once upon a time there was a little goldfish, whose biggest paradox of life rested in the name: GOLDFISH!
"How is that? My cousin is white, my pal is orange, the mayor is black, I am red and we are all goldfish!?" she pondered. "What about Sisy, the gold goldfish!? Isn't there any difference? shouldn't there be any difference?"

That was, simply, how racism, prejudice, able-ism, face-ism and many more, appeared in the underwater world.

For thousands of years, the goldfish fight for their standpoints, insisting they are Right! Poor goldfish don't read their college books thoroughly, so they may never have the chance to read Locke's idea of no single and ultimate truth. They may never think of Einstein's relativism. They may never think of themselves as goldfish rather than a red goldfish, a black one or a white one!

* The 'Note' part is  added later by Mitra Salari not me!

A poem

The fall is coming
dancing on the leaves
yellow and red
delighting you and me

The sun passes through the window
a little bit dip
to say hello to you and me
The breeze kissing the flowers and
brings a cool morning
for you and me

Drops of the day
trickle on the dark sea of the nights
tempting you and me

This is a season to being in love
don’t be late
fall is coming
for you and me
