First of April means 12 + 1 st of Farvardin the latest day of Norooz ceremony in the Iranian culture is called " Sizda be Dar " , on the other hand, in Iranian official calendar it is labelled Nature Day and it’s a holiday.
The history of this occasion is related to Ghajar epoch and it is a part of Zoroastrian ceremony.
In this especial day, all of the Iranian people, wherever they are, whether kids or adult, actually all of the family members go to the paradise and stay there until evening.
They tell some jokes,play some group games like “ Vasati “ or “ Zooooooooo “, & cook food on a barbecue,…… . Specially, single daughters knot some grass together to show their expectancy for wedding chance!
IThe 12 + 1st day is an infelicitous day, too!

ReplyDeleteI think for describing this ceremony is beter to add some information about the basic idea, I mean the main reason for going out not being at home or closed place. There is some superstition that related to 13, in the past people believe thirteen is bad luck number and they should go out to protect themselves from bad fortune during this year. they repeat this phrase: " sizdah be dar charade mobarak" fourteen times!

ReplyDeletei disagree with you respectedly.i read that it's a wrong beilive that 13 is an infelicitous number.in historical books it was written that 13th day of each month is jubilant and they used to celebrate them,as i mentioned in my post.
I do agree with my classmates.
ReplyDeleteI couldn`t remmember when was the last one I went outdoor in Sizdahbedar.You know I really hate going outdoor in this crowded day and There hasn`t been any infelicitous for me.

ReplyDeleteI think the validity of superstitious and believes about 13th day of Farvardin is not subject, while, Sahar describe different aspect of these day.
I am an English student too, but:
to Sahar:
I think "on the other hand" is not the best phrase at that position. It seems as a Persian translation.
to Zahra:
1. I think "i disagree with you respectedly" does not have meaning.
2. English writers are really concern about using appropriate Capital/Lower letters i.e. "I" instead "i".
